Yesterday, May 13, 2015, on their way to inspect a tourism project, a Pakistan military helicopter was crashed. The accident killed 9 people including Ambassadors from the Philippines and Norway. The wives of Malaysian and Indonesian Ambassadors, the two pilots and a crew member was among the 9 who died also in the helicopter crash.
Nawaz Sharif, the Prime Minister, was luckily on a separate helicopter when the accident happened. His trip readily returned to his office in Islamabad after being informed about the crash. Initial report released by the Pakistani military spokesman stated that the accident was caused by a technical failure and not a Taliban attack which they claimed that they were the one who brought the chopper down by shooting it with a shoulder-launched missile and was actually aiming for PM Sharif’s helicopter. The claimed was not true as the initial information released.
The military claimed that they have a good reputation in looking after the equipment. They also claimed that they have a well-trained and highly professional air force. There were 17 people on board on the Mi-17 when it was crashed into the school leaving fire on it, eleven of them are foreigners and the rests are Pakistanis as the Foreign Office said.
The bodies can no longer be identified because it was completely torched according to Sibtain Ahmed, the home secretary of Gilgit-Baltistan.
